US Open Pebble Beach, CA 2010
Thanks to my good buddy Dan Byrnes who encouraged me to sign up to volunteer, and to our son-in-law's parents, Barb and Herb Hansen for their willingness to host Dan and me for a week, I was able to serve as a hole marshal on one of the prettiest and challenging holes in golf, Hole # 8 at Pebble Beach. What a way to spend a week!
Even though I had suffered a torn meniscus, I was not going to pass up this opportunity and I am glad I made the decision to go rather than stay home to heal. At hole 8 my responsibilities included tracking the ball from the second shot on top of the hill to the green, and to assist in crowd control once the golfers were on the green. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Some photos I took and also of me performing my responsibilities at Hole #8 can be viewed below.
